Basic Watercolor

Class Description:

Capture the joy and beauty of color with watercolors! Whether you’ve always wanted to learn watercolors, are looking to refresh your skills, or just want to practice with a group, this is the class for you. This class is for both beginners and those who have some experience and wish to polish their skills and/or work with a group. Each class will also include a short drawing lesson, since drawing skills are a foundation of art! Instructor Joelle Douthit is excited to share the basic watercolor skills, techniques, drawing skills, and knowledge of supplies needed to start you on your journey into this highly enjoyable art form. We’ll be covering a variety of subjects as we cover various concepts, so there should be something for everyone!

Each class includes: a short drawing lesson, demonstration and practice of a watercolor concept, a project to flex those new skills, and open or guided work time.

Please note supplies are not provided for this class.

Meet the Instructor:

Joelle Douthit is a multi-media artist primarily working in printmaking, oil paints, and watercolors, chasing natural forms, overlooked details, and has fun with fantasy structures. She particularly loves sharing her joy in color, line, and composition, and will happily talk about art, design, and supplies, anytime. Joelle has taught private art lessons for several years, and her particular passion in teaching is to spark seeing the world deeply and equipping students with the tools to express it. Joelle is currently working on series featuring untraditional flower perspectives, and fantasy archetypes.
