Capture the joy and beauty of color with watercolors! Whether you’ve always wanted to learn watercolors, are looking to refresh your skills, or just want to practice with a group, this is the class for you. Instructor Joelle Douthit is excited to share basic watercolor skills, techniques, and knowledge of supplies needed to start you on your journey into this highly enjoyable art form. We’ll be covering a variety of subjects as we learn various concepts, so there should be something for everyone! Supplies are NOT included, so please check the supplies link below.

This 4 week session will be project oriented, and each class will tackle a specific subject with the intent of producing a finished piece by the end. We’ll be doing autumnal still lives and at least one landscape! Whether you’ve always wanted to learn watercolors, are looking to refresh your skills, or just want to practice with a group, this is the class for you. Meet the Instructor:
Joelle Douthit is a multi-media artist primarily working in printmaking, oil paints, and watercolors, chasing natural forms, overlooked details, and has fun with fantasy structures. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Old Dominion University, and has appeared in juried shows and galleries around Hampton Roads. She particularly loves sharing her joy in color, line, and composition, and will happily talk about art, design, and supplies, anytime. Joelle has taught private art lessons for several years, and her particular passion in teaching is to spark seeing the world deeply and equipping students with the tools to express it. Joelle is currently working on series featuring untraditional flower perspectives, and fantasy archetypes. She lives in Suffolk, VA with her family, cats, art supplies, and books.
