Food donations will be given to the ForKids food pantry to help families in our community. Last year, we raised over 3,000 food donations for ForKids. Let’s do this again or beat this number as a community! ForKids is a non-profit 501c(3) organization that serves families and children experiencing food insecurity and homelessness and provide assistance with education, housing stability and economic mobility in the Hampton Roads area, with a Suffolk location.

Food pantries typically need non-perishable foods, also known as shelf-stable foods, that are high in protein and have a long shelf life. Food banks don’t accept perishable foods like dairy, meat, produce, leftovers, or baked goods. Some items to consider donating include:
- Peanut butter: A high-protein food that’s popular with food banks and families with children
- Canned vegetables: A nutrient-dense food that lasts a long time on shelves
- Canned fish: A good source of protein, vitamins, minerals, and omega-3 fatty acids
- Pasta: Whole grain pasta is preferred
- Rice: Brown rice is preferred
- Cooking oils: Vegetable, sunflower, and extra virgin oils are all welcome
- Broth: Makes meals more nutritious and tasty
