Job Title: Summer Camp Art Instructor
Job Type: Part-time
Compensation: $325-350 / Week
We are seeking experienced and enthusiastic artists to teach in our Summer Art Camps. Our programs include both a Studio Fundamentals Camp and a Studio Exploration Camp, designed to introduce students, ages 6 through 15, to a variety of artistic disciplines in a hands-on, supportive environment.
Throughout the week, campers will rotate through SCCA’s dedicated art studios, including pottery, painting, and printmaking; where they will learn the basics of each medium while developing creativity, problem-solving skills, and confidence in their artistic voice. Guided by practicing artists, students will explore the fundamental elements of art, such as line, shape, color, texture, and form, while experimenting with a variety of tools, materials, and techniques.
Instructors must be able to commit to at least one full week of camp.
Soon-to-graduate Fine Arts students are strongly encouraged to apply.
Position Overview
This is a contracted position totaling 20 hours over one week. All individuals working in this program will be required to complete a background check.
Qualifications
- Strong experience in your artistic discipline (pottery, painting, or printmaking)
- Experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred
- Experience working in active, shared studio environments
- Ability to communicate clearly and manage a group of students
- Passion for art education and mentoring young artists
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on instruction and guidance to students
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and creative studio environment
- Support students as they explore materials and develop new skills
- Assist with studio setup, cleanup, and organization
- Collaborate with fellow instructors to ensure a cohesive camp experience
- Encourage students to think critically about their artwork
- Maintain an organized and inviting studio while caring for equipment and materials
- Supervise and ensure the safety of campers throughout the camp day
- Attend a required camp instructor training meeting prior to each session

- July 27 – July 31
