Jazz Musician: KEYCENTRIC

Join us Downstairs at the Center for dinner and jazz music by Keycentric, a contemporary jazz pianist based in Virginia Beach. The artist is well-respected for his innovative ability to blend in different genres including, classical, funk, gospel, soul, and pop, just to name a few. His music is designed for contemporary listeners who enjoy a timeless and classic sound, with a fresh approach.

KEYCENTRIC has been passionate about music ever since he was only a child, being surrounded by a family of artists. He started performing at an early age with his sisters in concerts and recitals with ensembles, bands, and choirs, acquiring a lot of experience and familiarity with the stage. His debut album, ‘KEYCENTRIC’, released on January 26th. In this release, the artist is going full circle, embodying his passion and talent in an eclectic and innovative album that is made for genuine music lovers.

Stay for a laugh! The comedy begins at 7:30 PM. Sure to have you in stitches, Lamont “Ferg” Ferguson was born in Detroit, Michigan and currently resides in Portsmouth, VA. 

Lamont “Ferg” Ferguson was born in Detroit, Michigan. He resides in Portsmouth, Virgina. Ferg is a comedian/actor/writer that has traveled the road of entertainment for many years. He has worked with Katt Williams and opened for national acts such as Charlie Murphy, Jordan Rock and Chaunte Wayans. Ferg also entertained our troops. He also was a participant in the following comedy festivals:
• The World Series of Comedy
• Virginia Beach Comedy Festival
• Baltimore Comedy Festival
• Shenandoah Comedy Festival

He’s a comedian who presents his world view through unique stories in a very unique way. He also can been seen in the feature film “Mother of A Day”

The Ben Phelps Project is a six piece band from Hampton Roads Virginia. The band plays a style of music all their own merging jazz, blues, and rock into an original sound. The BPP has worked regionally since 2004, released two albums, and has played shows with Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Colbie Callait, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Chicago, Cowboy Mouth, Michelle Branch, Cracker, Carbon Leaf, Pat Mcgee, Taylor Hicks, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, The Romantics, Good Old War, and more.

Along with regular local radio and TV appearances, The Ben Phelps Project has been a regular on the club circuit. Most notably, headlining twice in 2008 and 2012 with crowds in excess of 500 at The NorVa in Norfolk, VA; a club Rolling Stonenamed as one of the top 5 clubs to play in the country.

The band has played for spring breakers in Panama City, Florida to Bucknell University students in Pennsylvania and everywhere in between. Ben Phelps is newly signed to Tinderbox Music, a promotional company out of Minnesota, which currently has his solo album, New Ghost Town, on college radios across the county and is licensing the music for TV & Film. Most recently, Ben Phelps music has been has been licensed to The Discovery Channel, MTV2, and VH1 for use in over ten television series.
