Assembling Identity Through Adornment

Explore how we communicate our identity to the world through the ways in which we adorn ourselves. Come learn to create wearable sculpture, big and small, that establishes your unique identity.

Grades: 6-12

This is a three-day class, taking place on Saturdays November 2, 9, and 16. By registering for this, you agree to your commitment for all three classes. Each class builds on the knowledge of the previous one, so attendance is important. On November 16 we will have a fashion show and reception for family members to come see the art we make over the course of the three weekends. You only need to purchase one ticket to reserve your student’s seat at all three classes.

For more information, contact the teachers at:Kailyn: kdick017@odu.edu or Sarah: spatt006@odu.edu

This is a private event. Only registered students may attend the classrooms when in session. If special accommodations are necessary, please let us know.

Please register by Friday, October 25.

Once classes are full, students will be put on a waiting list, or you can choose to take a different workshop. Once sessions begin workshop changes are not permitted.

If you are unable to afford the registration fee we have some scholarships available. Please contact Sarah Patton at spatt006@odu.edu for more information.

By registering for an ODU Community Art Class, you agree that your child may be photographed. Images used will be for Old Dominion University preservice teachers’ professional portfolio development, promotional materials, and future research activities by ODU students and faculty.

The director, Gavin Harper, comes with a background in working with children’s choirs to University and adult choirs. This chorus will perform out at venues in the community as well as at the Suffolk Center. Join us as we begin to create music and spark the artistic side of the next generation.
