From Stage To Screen: Hairspray
Join Suffolk Tourism, in partnership with the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts, as they proudly present From Stage To Screen, a series of three former Broadway masterpieces that found huge success on the big screen. The series kicks off on Thursday, January 14, 2021, when Hairspray shimmies its way into your heart. Admission is $3 per person, and the movie will begin at 7 p.m. Please note that only 100 seats are available, to allow for social distancing in the 530-seat Birdsong Theater; masks are required. Hairspray is an American musical-romantic comedy film based on the popular stage production. Tracy Turnblad, a teenager with all the right movies in 1962 Baltimore, gets her wish to dance when she’s selected as a regular for a popular television dance show. Upset that Black kids can only dance on the show once a month, Tracy decides she’s going to integrate the show…all without denting her ‘do. With an all-star cast that includes John Travolta, Nikki Blonsky, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Zac Efron, this film is 117 minutes and rated PG.
