Friday Night Frights at the Center: The Shining

The Suffolk Division of Tourism wants to give you the fright of your life as they present a series of classic horror films at the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts. On Friday, October 29, 2021, join us for “The Shining,” the 1980 psychological horror film based on the popular Stephen King novel. The show begins at 8pm and admission is $3 per person. Please note that only 100 seats are available, to allow for social distancing in the 530-seat Birdsong Theater; masks are required. Writer and former teacher Jack Torrance agrees to be the caretaker of a hotel that has a long, violent past. When Jack slowly loses his grip on sanity due to the supernatural forces that inhabit the hotel, he becomes increasingly violent, placing his son Danny—who has psychic abilities known as “the shining”—and his wife Wendy in grave danger.
The cast includes Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall, Danny Lloyd, Barry Nelson, and Philip Stone. The film is rated R and has a running time of 146 minutes. No children under 17 will be admitted without a parent or guardian.
