Arts For Learning

Arts for Learning’s teaching artists will help campers explore their own cultural identity as they experience various cultures and art forms from around the world. To complement the “Around the World” theme, the camp will also feature two culturally enriching performances by Arts For Learning (A4L) performing artists.

Traveling from North America to other countries and continents of the world – Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and the Caribbean – campers will create multiple visual art projects. For example, campers will make a MOLA, a colorful patterned textile worn by the Indigenous Kuna people of Central and South America.

Additionally, campers will explore the ties that connect cultures through music and non-verbal expression, while creating and designing instruments and composing music that communicates in a universal language. Not only will campers discover correlation between cultures and art forms, they will also investigate their own cultures and heritage in order to write and share their personal stories with the aid of musical instruments they designed.

Spring Break Camp will conclude with a Showcase of campers’ artwork and their sharing of stories and music for invited families and friends.
