Class Description: Students will learn the basic exercises and techniques to capture the various angles and expressions of portrait-making. They will also understand the philosophy and value of portraiture. Pencil and ink materials will be used as students will eventually learn how to draw from observation as well as learning to manipulate their own style for their portrait of choice (from a celebrity, work of fiction, or imagination). Recommended Materials: Pencil – HB and no.2 , Sharpener, Bristol board paper OR drawing paper (preferably 9×12 ), Black marker (alcohol based such as Copic, Ohuhu, or Concept brand) .
