THEME: Chilling Creatures
Throughout history, real animals were considered myths or legends before they were discovered by science such as a snake, the komodo dragon or the giant squid. The animals described in folklore and mythology were inspired by real animals or from pure imagination due to humans’ fascination with the mysterious and the unknown. For example, in Greek mythology, the reader encounters sea monsters and centaurs, folklore tales describe Bigfoot and modern fantasy literature such as the Game of Thrones trilogy, the reader and viewer encounter dragons. In this year’s interpretation of Walk on the Wild Side, we invite artists from all mediums to illustrate the sometimes eerie yet majestic creatures seen in mother nature, folklore, religion, mythology, and fantasy.
Opportunities include:
– Exhibit your work in SCCA’s twin galleries from April 24 – May 31
– Small commission fees on works sold
– Exhibition judged by @orangeboxcutter, Charles Rasputin, (picture below) with prizes awarded
