Suffolk Sister Cities International is proud to present the 2026 Young Artists and Authors Showcase, inviting youth from around the world to express their creativity through the theme “Voices of Today, Visions of Tomorrow.” This year’s theme encourages youth to reflect on a historical moment: as the United States celebrates 250 years and Sister Cities International marks 70 years of building global friendships and cultural understanding.
By participating in this inspiring competition, young creators will have the opportunity to share their vision of a peaceful world. Through art, music, and creative writing, students will share their perspectives, hopes and creativity and show how today’s voices can help shape a more peaceful and interconnected world.
This annual juried event invites Suffolk public and private school students to submit their creations of paintings, drawings, sculptures, poetry, music, short stories, and/or longer essays.
Winning artwork is then sent from Suffolk to Washington, D.C., where a panel of judges selects the final winners based on originality, composition, and theme interpretation. After the finalists for art and literature (at the national level) have been announced, they embark on a year-long tour hosted by local sister city programs on a monthly basis.
