Class Detail: Now being introduced by Suffolk Cultural Center, are delightful young adult art classes. Each session will offer a new and hands on approach to interesting painting projects incorporating mixed media, coupled with inspiration resulting in authentic self-expression while creating artwork. Through this positive and fear-free approach to creativity young minds will feel nurtured and safe to enjoy the thrill of freely expressing yourself while feeling empowered to create with kindness and encouragement.

BASIC WHEEL POTTERY & OPEN STUDIO

Eight- Week Class

Tuesdays 10am – 12:30pm or 6pm – 8:30pm

Cost: $180 per session

Eight- Week Open Studio

Thursdays 10am – 1pm or 5pm – 8pm

Cost: $25 per day (3 hours) or $185 per 8 week session

Class Detail: Fundamentals of Oil Painting in Still Life is an 8 week observational painting course which explores the still life, a genre that focuses on commonplace subjects and objects that occupy the spaces of our domestic rituals. Join me in exploring the potential of this seemingly humble genre.

        • This course will cover Color Theory, Composition, and Techniques to oil painting; and places emphasis on students finding their own individualized approach to painting the genre of still life by referencing art movements and artwork made by historic and contemporary artists.

Class Detail: Have you ever wanted to learn how to paint but were afraid to get in a class only to find out the teacher expected you to already have the skills and talent? Joy of Painting is a safe place to try out oil painting without the pressure or high expectations. Instructor, Beth Blanchard, gives individual instruction and help based on where you are and what you want to accomplish. Learn how to use the oil medium, mix colors, create depth and light in your work, identify interesting compositions, and implement exciting brushwork. Experienced painters, come, bring your paints and supplies, and enjoy the fellowship of other mature artists in the class who have been painting for years and ask for help only as needed. Beginner painters, come with a photo for reference, a canvas or art panel, and a set of brushes. The instructor will give her recommendations for paints and mediums at the first class. Drawing skills are not required. Come, relax, and enjoy the art of oil painting.
