Basic Metal Clay – Shadow Box Pendant

Class Description:    This intermediate class is an adventure in working with precious metal clay.  Art Clay Silver is a great product especially formulated for objects that can be created and fired in the same day with outstanding results.  Art Clay Silver is pure fine silver (.999) mixed with water and an organic binder.  It is soft and easy to work with simple tools.  One it is fired at 1550 degrees for 45 minutes the product is .999 fine silver.  Art Clay silver is available in several formulations such as syringes, paste, silver coated paper, and overlay paste. Art Clay Silver projects can be combined with ceramics, glass fusions, kiln fired enameled, and torch enameled.  The creative possibilities are endless.  Art clay copper is also available.  The techniques covered in this class include how to manipulate the clay, make attachments, using a variety of textures and molds, finishing, sanding techniques, and how to make simple repairs.  We will create a shadow box pendant, with a pearl setting or student’s choice of design in the shadow box.  The shadow box can be made in a wide variety of shapes in addition to the pictured design. Skill Level:  Beginner or Intermediate, some metal clay experience is helpful.

Basic Metal Clay – Silver Links Bracelet

Class Description:  In this workshop, participants in this class will learn the basic techniques of jewelry making with Precious Metal Clay (Silver) Construction. Refinement and finishing techniques will be presented.  At the conclusion of this workshop, students will complete several pieces of fine silver jewelry.  Advanced techniques and certification classes are available.  Participants will be given time for lunch during the workshop.  You are welcome to bring your own lunch.   An on-site restaurant is also available.  All materials needed included in the registration fee.

Basket Making for Kids! – Create a Wheelin’ Tote

1 Day Class

Class Description:  Learn how to weave a solid bottom tote basket.  Learn how to lay a solid base, weave a locking row and the sides of this popular basket style.  After constructing the basket, you will create the Cherokee Wheels and make a handle for your basket from Shaker Tape.  Even to this day, all baskets available are still made by hand.  This class is designed for children and provides them step-by-step instruction. All materials needed included in the registration fee.

For Coil Building                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       You will learn the basic skills for coil building. Techniques will involve rolling and extruding coils of clay. Coiled pots are constructed by gradually stacking and joining coils of clay one on top of the other. By manipulating and joining together to form a finished object.

For Extruding Building
You will learn how to assemble the extruder correctly. Will use clay straight out of the bag or use well wedged clay. Learn how to use the extruder correctly. Learn how to put extruded pieces together to make finished projects

Character Drawing as Illustration (Advanced)

Class Description:  Students will learn to illustrate their own character through the basics of drawing facial expressions and body composition from the beginning.  Students will then learn and understand dynamism and gestures of their character, as well as the importance of capturing their essence and personality.  On the final class, students will complete an “official” illustration of their imagined character combining everything they have learned through the first six weeks of this course.  Recommended materials:  Pencil – HB and no.2 , Sharpener, Bristol board paper, sketchbook drawing paper (preferably 9×12 ) , Black marker (alcohol based such as Copic, Ohuhu, or Concept brand).

Classical Expression Painting

Class Description:  This creatively inspired class will take an interesting look at various Masterpiece works of art.  Each participant will be assigned a section of the Masterpiece to recreate with their interpretation by using various drawing and painting skills.  The result will be a larger-than-life recreation of the Masterpiece.  This is a class for anyone who loves art and classic Masterpieces regardless of their painting and drawing skills.  A student supply list is provided below.  Please bring these materials to the first class
