Beginning Techniques in PMC (Copper)

Class Description:  This introductory class is an adventure in working with precious metal clay.  Art Clay Copper is a great product specially formulated for objects that can be created and fired on the same day with outstanding results.  Art Clay Copper is pure copper mixed with water and an organic binder.  It is soft and easy to work with simple tools.  Once it is fired at 1778 degrees for 30 minutes the product is pure Copper.  Art Clay Copper projects can be polished, patinated, kiln-fired enameled, and/or torch enameled. 

The creative possibilities are endless.  Art clay silver and Art clay bronze is also available.  The techniques covered in this class include how to manipulate the clay, techniques to make attachments, using a variety of textures and molds, finishing, sanding techniques, and how to make simple repairs.  We will create a variety of silver jewelry and/or other decorative objects for functional use in other projects.

Class Description:  Learn how to weave a solid bottom market basket.  Learn to design your own market basket using a square wooden oak hoop for the handle.  Lay the base, weave a locking row & weave the sides in your own design. The instructor will provide lots of different colors & sizes for students to choose from.  Lastly, we will lash the rim of the basket.

This class is designed for your enjoyment, and you will receive step-by-step instructions. No previous experience is required or even expected.  All materials needed are included in the registration fee.
