Mary Poppins Returns

In Depression-era London, a grown-up Michael Banks and his sister Jane, along with Michael’s three children, find their lives turned upside down by the ‘practically perfect’ and enigmatic Mary Poppins. Through her unique magical skills, and with the aid of her friend Jack, she helps the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives.

The all-star cast includes Emily Blunt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Julie Walters, Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, and more! The film is rated PG and has a running time of two hours and 10 minutes. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

The Suffolk Division of Tourism is pleased to present “Mary Poppins Returns” at the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts, on Saturday, December 14, 2019, beginning at 2pm. A large “dream” house on the coast of Long Island where newlyweds George and Kathy Lutz and their three children move becomes a site of abject terror, as the house seems to be haunted by its previous owners.

The cast includes a James Brolin, Margo Kidder, Rod Steiger, Don Stroud, and Natasha Ryan. The film is rated R and has a running time of 117 minutes. No children under 17 will be permitted.

Rosemary’s Baby

A young Catholic housewife in New York City fears she is beset by evil during a bizarre pregnancy. As she falls increasingly ill, alarming hints of a well-planned and sinister conspiracy begin to emerge, enfolding Rosemary in a shroud of suspicion and mental agony. She grows terrified at the prospect that her outwardly benevolent neighbors aren’t who they appear to be.

Mission: Impossible – Fallout

After a mission goes wrong and anarchist Solomon Lane escapes custody, Ethan Hunt and his IMF team are blamed and their loyalty is questioned. They attempt to fulfill their initial mission and recapture Lane while also trying to outrun a ruthless CIA agent tasked with taking them out. As Hunt fends off these old and new threats, including an imminent nuclear attack, he also realizes allies within IMF might have other motives. The all-star cast includes Tom Cruise, Henry Cavill, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Angela Bassett, and Rebecca Ferguson. The film is rated PG-13 and has a running time of two hours and 27 minutes.

After six years of interviews and filming , The Virginia Peanut Story is ready for screening. Producer Amy Drewry has worked with Western Tidewater Virginia Heritage, Inc. a nonprofit made up of historians, farmers, and others from Isle of Wight, Southampton, Surry, Sussex Counties and the City of Suffolk. The 57 minute documentary has been made for airing on public television. It was produced with support from Virginia Humanities and other local and regional foundations, businesses and individuals.

The Ceramic Designers Association is a group of ceramic artists and potters dedicated to clay. This diverse group of artists, from emerging potters to professionals, create works of art from basic elements of earth and water. Their participation in Fire, Form, and Function at the Suffolk Center contributes to the cultural life of Suffolk and of the Hampton Roads area.

Fire, Form, and Function features the work of over 20 artists and includes contemporary, vibrantly glazed stoneware and functional wheel-thrown and hand built pieces.
