A must-see exhibit that embraces the spontaneity of plein air painting and the ability of artists to capture the essence of downtown of Suffolk on canvas.

The works featured in this exhibit are the result of a day-long plein air painting adventure on Saturday, May 5, 2018, throughout Downtown Suffolk as well as other works in the plein air tradition.

THEATER CAMP 2020

Camp Detail: The Suffolk Center invites you to enjoy a week full of theater and creativity! We bring you professional theater artists provided by Young Audiences Arts for Learning. Students will take classes in the fundamentals of Theater, costume design, set design, improvisation, scene writing, and the Strasberg Method. Students will also have the opportunity to learn about song writing for the theater. They will also take classes on dance to create a full circle of musical theater experience. A final performance will be open to the public at the end of the week.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Suffolk Center for Cultural camp staff will proactively follow guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Camp Detail: This camp is full of ALL THINGS MUSIC! Play instruments; learn music theory, recorders, percussion instruments, as well as learning techniques in singing. Spend this week making music with others at Music Camp!  The students will also experience the power of movement and music in the form of hip-hop and modern dance. Students will also learn basic piano skills that will help them with any instrument. For five fun filled days students will experience small group instruction in preparation for their concert on Friday afternoon!

Camp Detail: Do you love art? Do you enjoy creating drawings, paintings, sculptures, and more? Then Suffolk Center’s Art Camp is for you! The Suffolk Center has partnered with Young Audiences Arts for Learning Virginia to provide professional artists here to mentor the students on the fundamentals of drawing, painting, sculpture and collage as the young artists observe the world around them to create. Students will create art work daily, and curate a final exhibition opening at the end of the week.

Camp Detail: S=Science. T=Technology. E=Engineering. A=Art. S=Science. Jump on board and join The Suffolk Center and SYLVAN Learning in the fun as we embark on a week-long trip of a lifetime! During your child’s 5 day journey he/she will uncover exciting S.T.E.A.M. topics such as Lego Robotics and Lego Engineering. They will explore the world of video game and graphic design, all while learning a new language, video coding! They will improve their problem solving skills as we engage in fun and challenging math concepts taught using the arts and movement!
